Pre-Summer Product Updates: New book components, more customization & great fixes
Before we slow down for the summer, we are bringing you our latest product update, with powerful new features across Books, Media Center, Schedules, Program Catalog, and Mediabank. Here's what’s new:
One for the books (no pun intended)
Book Pages: Purpose-Built and Publisher-Friendly
We’ve expanded the page builder's capabilities to support the growing needs of our publishing clients:
Dedicated Book Pages: You can now create a standalone page for books using the Page Builder under Media Center → Pages → Create page. This unlocks a cleaner experience for book-focused publishers. Here are a few examples of how it can look (see screenshot):
New Books Component: Flexible Layouts for Releases and Authors
We’ve introduced a powerful Books component under Automatic Components that gives you flexible display options for your book content.
You can now showcase:
Upcoming Releases: New books that will be coming out soon.
Latest Releases: Books that have just been released.
Books by Author: List all books by a single author.
Each option can be selected when configuring the Books component inside the Page Builder.
Where to find it:
Go to Media Center → Pages → Select a page or create a new one → Add New Component (+) → Automatic Components → Books.
From there, choose your layout (e.g., grid or slider) and select how to filter the content (by release date or author). This allows you to create dynamic sections for launch campaigns, publisher pages or author spotlights.
Pull Images Directly from Book Catalog
The same way some customers use the Program Catalog, our book customers will now be able to pull media already in their Book Catalog, into components, like from Mediabank. You can do this on an existing image component, or add a new one → Add content → Book Catalog, and browse around for the image you want. Additionally, you can find content you can via search by title, ISBN or author.
New Page Builder Components
Collection (Automatic Component)
A new media Collection component (under Automatic Components) lets you display a grid or slider with mixed content types, video, images and audio all within the same carousel.
Choose a collection to display media from (e.g., “Bachelor”).
Supports full customization and sorting.
Ideal for pages where you want to show all content from a specific show or collection.
Under Media Center → Pages → Select the page you want or create a new one → Add New Component (+)→ Automatic Components → Collection.
Live Events (Automatic Component)
A powerful new component for Live Events has been added under Automatic Components:
Choose layout (grid, slider, etc.)
Filter by Event category, Program type, genre or specific channel.
Customize the title display to suit your page.
Ideal for genre-specific or channel-specific live event pages.
Under Media Center → Pages → Select the page you want or create a new one → Add New Component (+) → Automatic Components → Live Events.
If you don’t have genres in your catalog and you’d like to set them up, email us at support@clipsource.com and we’ll get you situated.
Page Builder: More Control Over Background Colors
You can now customize background colors per component. Fun!
Under Media Center → Pages → Select the page you want or create a new one → Add New Component (+) or Edit → Additional Settings → Background Color.
We are still working on background customization for our automatic components, so you can expect it after the summer.
For those with Schedules
Schedules: Link to Channels and Days
You can now copy + paste to share a direct URL to a specific channel and date within Schedules. This makes it easy to say, “Check Tuesday’s schedule for this channel,” and link directly to that view. Basically, in the public view of your schedules, copy paste the URL and can share a specific page / schedule instead of the general page.
Schedules: Easier Validation of Publishing Issues
Schedules now highlight both soft & hard error validations (e.g., gaps, missing images) with respective color warnings, even when the schedule is published. This helps you address issues proactively while keeping content live.
You can see this if you have a Schedule module, at the calendar overview:
Other new features
Mediabank: Celebrity Recognition
We’ve introduced automatic celebrity face recognition in Mediabank. Adds safety, structure, and long-term discoverability to your media assets.
You can see this under media bank, individual assets (see screenshot). Hover over a tag, and the face in an image will locate it in red (see Pedro for reference).
Our software also suggests additional tags that can be accepted or deleted.
Program Catalog: Cleaner Reference Display
Previously, series pages listed all internal tag IDs, creating a cluttered experience. We now consolidate those into a clean, summarized References Section, especially useful when programs are compiled from multiple systems with different IDs.
You can find this under your Program Catalog module, when browsing programs individually.
Media Center: Improved Book Search
When searching for a title in your Media Center, your users now do not need to worry about being punctuation sensitive, making it easier to find what you’re looking for, even if you miss an apostrophe or hyphen.
Small Enhancements
Search Feedback in Media Center: When no results are found, users now see a clear message rather than an empty screen.
The Link list component now supports images from the Mediabank.
The button in the Screening Room component now says “See more” instead of “Read more”.
A “No results found” message is now shown in Media Center search instead of an empty view.
That’s all folks! Got any questions? Want some help setting up features? We got your back at support@clipsource.com
We’ll be back soon with even more updates—until then, happy publishing!
